Seit 2008 organisiert der Kulturverein KLANGfolger das KLANGfestival in Gallneukirchen bei Linz/Oberösterreich. Hinter dem Kulturverein KLANGfolger steht ein breit aufgestelltes Expert:innen-Team aus den Bereichen Kulturmanagement, Musik, Film, Theater, Literatur, Bildende Kunst, Architektur und Design.
Since 2008, the cultural association KLANGfolger has been organizing the KLANGfestival in Gallneukirchen near Linz, Upper Austria. Behind KLANGfolger stands a broad team of experts in cultural management, music, film, theater, literature, visual arts, architecture, and design.
Die diverse Ausrichtung des Vereines zeigt sich wunderbar in einer spartenübergreifenden und innovativ-experimentellen Programmierung. Zeitgenössische Musik wird mit spannend frequentierten Strömungen wie Literatur, Theater, Performance, Bildende Kunst & Gesellschaftsdiskurs verknüpft.
The diverse orientation of the association is wonderfully reflected in a cross-disciplinary and innovative-experimental programming. Contemporary music is intertwined with excitingly frequented currents such as literature, theater, performance, visual arts, and social discourse.

Das KLANGestival wuchs über die Jahre zu einem fixen Bestandteil der zeitgenössischen Kulturlandschaft in Österreich. Was einst als Geheimtipp (Der Standard) begann, die Entwicklung zahlreicher mittlerweile namhafter Künstler:innen mitzeichnete, repräsentiert heute
deutlicher denn je das aktuelle künstlerisch-kulturelle Zeitgeschehen - lokal und international.
Over the years, the KLANGfestival has grown into a fixed component of the contemporary cultural landscape in Austria. What once began as an insider tip (Der Standard), tracing the development of numerous now-renowned artists, today represents the current artistic and cultural zeitgeist more clearly than ever - both locally and internationally.
Seit 2016 nähert sich der Verein zusätzlich dem Thema Leerstand, also leerstehende Gebäude im Gallneukirchner Zentrum und darüber hinaus. Das erste Zwischennutzungsprojekt - KLANGfolger #AlteNähstube - wurde vom Land Oberösterreich mit dem Vereinspreis 2017 ausgezeichnet. Inhaltlich setzte sich in der Alten Nähstube der zeitgenössisch-experimentelle Ansatz fort.
Neben bekannten Musiker:innen wie ŽEN, Herbst, PYG, Tumido, Gigi Gratt, Le Quan Ninh oder Motherdrum fanden dort regelmäßig Ausstellungen, Performances, Lesungen und Lectures statt.
Since 2016, the association has additionally approached the topic of vacant buildings in the Gallneukirchen center and beyond. The first interim use project - KLANGfolger #AlteNähstube - was awarded the 2017 Association Prize by the state of Upper Austria. In the Alte Nähstube, the contemporary-experimental approach continued. Besides well-known musicians like ŽEN, Herbst, PYG, Tumido, Gigi Gratt, Le Quan Ninh, or Motherdrum, there were regular exhibitions, performances, readings, and lectures.
Ergänzend zum KLANGfestival und zur kulturellen Leerstandsnutzung zählen überregionale Kooperationen mit vernetzten Kulturinitiativen, Kurator:innen und Festivals (Ars Electronica Festival, KAPU Linz, Holy Hydra, Schlachthof Wels, GA.ST, Kulturpool Gusental, KUPF OÖ, Festival der Regionen etc). Weiters wird jährlich das KLANGzine (ein Magazin) produziert und publiziert. Ein Computerspiel (KLANGgame) erweitert das Festivalgeschehen seit 2022 um die virtuelle Ebene.
In addition to the KLANGfestival and the cultural use of vacant buildings, there are supra-regional cooperations with connected cultural initiatives, curators, and festivals (Ars Electronica Festival, KAPU Linz, Holy Hydra, Schlachthof Wels, GA.ST, Kulturpool Gusental, KUPF OÖ, Festival of Regions, etc.). Furthermore, the KLANGzine (a magazine) is produced and published annually. Since 2022, the festival activities have been expanded to the virtual level with a computer game (KLANGgame).
2018 wurde die Alte Feuerwehrhalle in Gallneukirchen erstmals vom Kulturverein KLANGfolger für das KLANGfestival adaptiert. Mittlerweile ist der ehemalige Leerstand eine fixe Location der regionalen Kulturszene.
In 2018, the Alte Feuerwehrhalle in Gallneukirchen was adapted by the KLANGfolger cultural association for the KLANGfestival for the first time. Meanwhile, the former vacant building has become a fixed location in the regional cultural scene.
2022 wurde erstmals das Alte Hallenbad - ein weiterer spannender Leerstand im Gallneukirchner Stadtzentrum - im Zuge des KLANGfestivals bespielt.
In 2022, the Alte Hallenbad - another exciting vacant building in the Gallneukirchen city center - was used for the first time as part of the KLANGfestival.
2023 war das Altes Hallenbad erstmals die Hauptlocation für das KLANGfestival, das in Kooperation mit dem Festival der Regionen von 30. Juni - 1. Juli stattfand.
In 2023, the Alte Hallenbad was the main location for the KLANGfestival for the first time, which took place in cooperation with the Festival of Regions on June 30 and July 1.
2024 wird das KLANGfestival zum zweiten mal im Alten Hallenbad und erstmals auch in der Evangelischen Kirche stattfinden.
In 2024, the KLANGfestival will be held for the second time in the Alte Hallenbad and for the first time also in the Evangelical Church.
