The Klangfestival Collective is an idealism-driven group of people who believe in DIY, non-profit festivals for experimental and weird art, aiming to make this stupid world a little less stupid (hopefully).

Our venues are very special because of what they offer as event spaces. The main venue was a public indoor swimming pool until it had to close in 2013. It reopened in 2023 as a cultural hub for the local community, after years of efforts by Klangfestival and many others who lobbied local politicians to make it happen and prevent the building from being sold off for commercial development.

Most of us who work for Klangfestival have a personal story connected to this place. Just ask around if you’re curious! Some of us learned how to swim here, some organized their first concert here, and so on.

Please be patient with us! We organize Klangfestival on a voluntary basis. We truly believe in our festival theme, „This Stupid World Is All We Have“ (a great song by Yo La Tengo, by the way). That’s also why we chose the dung beetle as this year’s mascot: it reminds us that even in a world full of shit, there is still meaning in keeping things moving.
